RECOMMENDED AUDIENCE

This program will be of academic and professional interest to Resuscitation, Perioperative, Critical Care, Intermediate Care, and Medical-Surgical nurses; pre-hospital personnel (EMTs / Paramedics); Advanced Practice Nurses; Allied Health Professionals and Physicians.

GOAL

This conference will provide relevant evidence-based information and stimulate discussion about new and innovative advances in the fields of trauma and critical care.  This conference is designed to meet the learning needs of all disciplines involved in the care of the trauma/critical care patient.

"Optimal Trauma Center: Organization and Management Course"

The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT) and the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) have partnered to develop the Optimal Trauma Center Organization & Management Course. Both physicians and nurses teach this collaborative course.

RECOMMENDED AUDIENCE

Trauma Medical Directors, Trauma Program Managers/Coordinators, Administrators, Trauma Registrars, State/Region personnel and other disciplines involved in trauma.

DESCRIPTION

This preconference is designed to enhance trauma center performance and to improve patient care through implementation of the ACS COT Trauma Center Standards. Whether yours is a mature verified center or a hospital preparing for designation, this course is designed to help participants develop strategies, processes, and operations to support trauma systems, based on their unique environments. It is designed to help you take your trauma center to the next level, beyond verification or designation. The nuances of implementing or improving upon trauma center criteria within the structure of your specific facility will be reviewed in an interactive forum.

ACCREDITATION

EMS Continuing Education units will be offered via MIEMSS. This activity has been submitted to the UMMC Office of Clinical Practice and Professional Development, an approved provider by the MNA for approval to award contact hours. The Maryland Nurse Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

FEES

Tuition fees include coffee, morning light snacks, daily buffet lunch, afternoon snack and teaching materials. A written cancellation notice is required no later than September 14, 2012 for a refund. The course registration fee is refundable minus a $45 administrative fee with the written cancellation notice.

BREAKOUT WORKSHOPS

Please Select your breakout workshop for each session. Room size limits workshop capacity. Registration for workshops is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Although we strive to honor your choice, we reserve the right to substitute a workshop if the event registration exceeds room capacity.
